Regional Occupation Program (ROP)

Chico High School ROP CAD Drafting is a school-to-work program which helps prepare students for college and work. Each student must meet the prerequisite of at least two levels of engineering or architecture and can demonstrate the skills required by the standards in ROP to be admitted. In ROP, each student will be given the opportunity to improve their standard skills by participating in client based projects, community service projects, field trips and/or internships.  Client based projects are typically anything from a metal fabrication to a complete house design for a local community member. ROP CAD Drafting will often participate in community service projects for local agencies who need CAD services as a donation. The local planning department and local architects often participate in these projects to help make them happen. When architects participate, they often offer field trips to the actual job sites as shown above at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. When students can demonstrate the standard skill sets required by ROP, they become valuable as interns. Many local architects and manufacturing firms utilize ROP students in the Chico Area. Some who have supported Chico High ROP CAD Drafting over the years are featured in the Business Partners section of this website.
